Wire Wrapping Techniques Jewelry
Is there an online school for metal-smithing, gemology and jewelry design?
I’m currently taking community ed classes on jewelry making techniques such as stringing and wire wrap from the college here but I want to go all the way on this and there are no classes here that offer metal-smithing etc. I have so many designs in my head that I’d like to make but I need more schooling. I cant afford to move however so if there is any online courses that would be great. I just dont know where to start.
First – I wish you had mentioned where “here” is – most state colleges and universities have metals courses. I would not suggest trying to learn metal working by mail. Some of the more prestigious schools are the Revere Academy of Jewelry Design in San Francisco, California and the Texas Institute of Jewelry Technology in Paris, Texas.
Of course the two best courses in Gemology would be GIA (Gemological Institute of America http://gia.edu) and ISG (International School of Gemology http://www.schoolofgemology.com) .
