It doesn’t matter if they’re your mother’s pearls or a favorite bracelet, your jewelry collection is often a tangled mess. Instead of constantly detangling chains and searching for that elusive earring partner, get organized. These low- or no-cost ideas will take little time and effort.
Organized jewelry box
You probably already have an inexpensive weekly or monthly pillbox. They’re perfect for separating and keeping small pieces of jewelry – especially Earrings – organized. These can also be purchased inexpensively at a local craft or drug store. Another idea is to use small, clear fishing tackle boxes or ice cube trays.
Necklace holders
A necklace rack, or a mug rack (which is often decorative and can be hung on a wall to display necklaces) are great ways to organize necklaces. A tie rack or small coat hooks will also work well.
Don’t want to keep your children’s plastic jewelry with your sparkling gems? Use one of their stuffed animals to store jewelry.
- Drape necklaces around the neck of a teddy bear, doll, or other stuffed friend.
- If your child has pierced ears put the earrings through the stuffed animal’s ears. This also works with clip-on earrings.
- Rings can be tied to ribbons around the stuffed animal’s neck. Make sure to tie the knot tightly so the rings don’t fall off.
- Display the teddy bear on a dresser that younger children can’t reach.
- Fun idea: A teddy bear wearing bracelets, necklaces, and earrings is perfect to play with when your youngster gets dressed up for a tea party!

With beading/jewelry making, how do you get the ends to keep the beads on without tying ugly knots?

I just took an interest in this and bought a few bits and peices, I have the wires and some clasps and jump rings and earring hooks etc but I cannot figure out if the vital missing peice is crimps?
When , for example I thread an earring I am knotting the end or the wire so the beads dont fall off and then when I get to the top, what do I? I cant tie a knot to the earring hook it look ugly…
I need something so I can loop the wire through the earring hook and then put the clamp thing around the two pieces and squeeze them together… so I dont need to tie a knot…
Gees for something so simple I hope Im not confusing you too much – I know exactly what I mean and I thought it was crimps that I needed but on Ebay most say crimp/spacers instead of just crimp… are crimp and spacers the same thing? I didnt think they were… now I dont know if It was crimps I was after…
