An interesting fact is that many good companies are not famous while some with good but not excellent products are well known in the field.
Marketing is the reason. For example, the designer of "jewels of the pound sterling with gold accents by" David Yurman "is pretty well known. In my opinion it is too expensive. I do not care for this jewelry, while others prefer a "Yurman" piece above the rest. Tastes vary. Marketing affects taste, too, suspect. The marketing aspect is a big, big "famous" nature of a particular manufacturer.
I was in the state of Virginia Fall and step into a store Finks. A good example were only three items Yurman. There is a minimum value of a stock must show to be a seller Yurman. As I here about 3 sample is a minimum. That's why those who can sink a lot into one line take the line and promote it.
For example, Saks carries line, and Neiman Marcus. These large surfaces may be essentially a "David Yurman" sub-department! That is marketing, speaking of celebrities, but not always the best products.
Tiffany & Co. is certainly well known. This is for good reason: the name recognition built up over years in business. The products are of very good quality in general and promotes a lot of "designer" items with a designer name used for the recognition of a certain line of jewelry sold by Tiffany.
Think of the little luggage tags sterling Tiffany produced a long time and we find people clinging to the remains of metal like platinum instead of silver. Of course, the label features the famous Tiffany Without name stamped on it the name, this would be another allure of easy money. With Tiffany, the word "quality" is inherent in the name.
You see, this issue is much more complicated than a list manufacturers. Now I will give some names of manufacturers who do excellent work and produce very good jewelry. Some are known to "those who have heard about them "and some are famous around the outside of the jewelry trade. the recognition of the pubis is often completely different from recognition in the trade. This list is very short. Many manufacturers are out there that would be on top of a list of product quality and short on name recognition. Here are some manufacturers I consider the best at what they do:
Jostens. Class rings (as for graduations, etc) Art Carved. wedding rings and class rings
Hearts Afire. A recent "brand name" Diamond "hearts and arrows" of guy, now expanding into jewelry. Jabel, finished jewelry and results (Pieces for jewelers to use as media alone). This company is not well known and I think it takes several years behind the market in the design. However, the product is excellent.
Oscar Hyman. This company is known by the buyers of high-end jewelry. The products are excellent in design, techniques and work finished gemstones and beautifully tailored. They make rings, bracelets, etc, with many diamonds and cut very well and matched colored gems of high quality.
Stuller, this is a house is expanding findings in the field of finished jewelry. Headquartered in Lafayette, Louisiana, the company started small but has grown enormously. Stuller is not a brand recognized by the public. However, the retail jeweler, the company gets high marks for quality. I'm not very familiar with finished products, but expect that the quality is high.
I am disappointed that the list is for you. There are many other manufacturers that should be there but I have to go with what I've seen.
The Asian influence has much to do with what is sold today comes from foreign manufacturers. Look at Taiwan, China and Thailand, and you will see the source of much of the goods sold by companies such as Wall Mart, JC Penney and many others, including stores in the chain of shopping malls. This was not the case for years, but it is the common case today.
Some of the imported goods are well made and much is not. The price is the dictator here, beyond the name recognition or quality. Unfortunately, the average consumer is not educated in determining the quality of the jewelry and neither many of the vendors who have the task of selling the product, as if the sale of socks or umbrellas.
Is it the brand? After ten years of Branding Revolution, 95 jewelers in 100 say they can not sell or tell a diamond brand from another. Or, if you can, then their sales associates sure I can not. (And you should hear these people talk about their employees.)
"I've never once had a client," says the store manager, that came through my door asking [the diamond of national brands that just sold on]. But an average of two important designers [brand] sales of the week – And always at the clients who came to ask for it. That's the mark. "Interestingly, this store is not Rolex or Breitling, although they have in the past.
Some jewels are being manufactured with the diamonds fairly recent introduction of "blue ice" or "Canadian Ice", the diamonds of a strike in Northern Territories. I see a real future for diamonds in Canada. Marketing is underway and the action is good, as I see it.
