QVC-how does having a $19 jewelry purse on easy pay of $9 motivate people to buy?
Please don’t answer by insulting the people that shop there.
I am merely trying to understand why people are so immensely motivated to buy when it’s easy pay.
Does easy pay somehow seem to make it more affordable?
Note: I would never in a million years shop QVC – don’t insult me.
Anything I have ever seen is always cheaper at the stores when you add the shipping.
I clearly do not understand the concept – please explain in detail.
It seems that if you can’t afford to pay the $19 bucks at once – you shouldn’t be buying it.

Those are all good questions. It probably takes a psychologist to anwer some of it, but basically the “more affordable” an item seems the better the sales. It is like buying a car these days. It used to be the dealer would actually tell you the price. Now they want to quote the price as a monthly payment. There are some people for whom these silly easy pay terms are meaningful. Lets say a person on a low fixed income…their funds may be so tight that in reality they can only afford $9 a month instead of $19 at one time. Now, it is true they could simply save the money up over a couple of months and then buy the item, but wanting it now plays a big part. It also sounds like a good deal to people when the “suggested retail price” (which is just a made up figure) is much higher than the selling price. They think the item is a good deal because the suggested retail price is $47 and they can get it for $19.
