What’s a good digital camera for taking close up pictures (i.e., jewelry, highly detailed pottery, etc.) ?
I have a Canon A570 IS as my point and shoot. It will take images from as close as 2″ from the end of the lens to the subject.
However, the issue with any camera doing close-ups is the lighting of the subject. As long as you can adequately light your subject, just about any digital camera with a “macro” or close-focusing ability will do the job. Do not rely on the built-in flash to handle the lighting, because at such close distances, the lens will block part of the light–on ANY camera.
So, at $155, I would recommend the Canon A570 IS with 2″ close focusing ability. Just make sure you have the means to light your subject.
