Nude portraits undoubtedly belong to the most popular subgenres of glamour photography. What are the basic demands of producing quality and, most importantly, elegant nudes? Let us see in which way glamour photography can make it happen.
Nude portraits are not about our physical desires they are all about art. Even the most brazen nude picture must have a touch of idea and concept to it – otherwise it’s anything but art. Let us turn away from ethereal and boring theory, though, and get down to practice!

In fact, softer lighting always contributes to the atmosphere of your nude portraits, so don’t disregard with this opportunity;
- Don’t let the laws of optics stand in your way to creating a nude masterpiece: the shooting angle can alter the proportions and make your model either too tall and thin or too short. Don’t you think it wouldn’t actually demonstrate your good taste?
- Be creative. Different poses, lighting angles or backdrops and accessories will certainly deliver you several great variations on the same motif;
- Shoot, shoot, shoot and did I mention shoot? I mean it – to call your session successful, you need lots of material to look through. That’s why professional glamour artists produce thousands of photos per studio shoot – to choose 10 to 20 really good pictures in the end;
- Communicate with your model, make her feel at ease. She is more than merely a model, but your best friend and a co-author. Your model is the second most important person behind the creative activity – if not the first. If your model feels uncomfortable, you wont get anywhere even if youre Helmut Newton!
It’s never a piece of cake to be a nude photographer, nor is to shoot Beauty Photography. However, anything is doable if you don’t give up. As they say, with one step you can start a trip of thousand miles! In the case of glamour artists one flash is enough.
