Whilst relatively new on the market, Maurice Lacroix watches are taking their share of the market. There should be a place on the watch bracelet that you can insert the pin that will make the strap more comfortable for you. A watch strap with not enough holes in it is too big for you. Leather straps often present this problem. Do not try to adjust the leather strap on your own unless you have a leather punch, rather take it to someone who has a leather punch so that the strap is not damaged.
Wind up your manual wind watch at the same time each day. The best time is usually in the morning as this powers the watch up for the whole day and will allow for better time keeping. Take off the watch before attempting to wind it up. There are two reasons for this: you could break the strap and unnecessary strain is placed on the watch’s winding system.
Avoid damaging and or breaking the components and or mainspring by winding up the watch slowly and consistently. Once you feel it is tighter and there is some resistance then you should stop.
Watches can sometimes stop for no apparent reason and this is often the case with the cheaper automatic versions, as they do not have a winding stem to start up again. When this happens, gently swing the watch in the formation of an arc and it will start up. Manual wind watches can get started up again by gently turning the winder for a couple of minutes.
Water resistant watches are made obvious by labeling on the packaging or the watch. On either the watch or the packaging, there will be a code with text such as WR200 meters, WR100 meters, WR50 meters or WR30 meters; the larger the number the more water resistant the watch is. The kind of water in which the watch is immersed, is of more importance than the actual depth of the water. Soap, detergent and hot water should be avoided and these are not good for the seals of the watch. Chlorine is another substance that is a no- no for watches.
Magnets in PC’s and in the seal around the door of your icebox can affect the functionality of the watch. Should this occur then get to a watchmaker and he will sort it out right away as he has e demagnetizer that will fix this right away.
Cheap and expensive mens wristwatches alike should be looked after carefully. The quarts and mechanical watches equally need care and attention, this will keep the watch in good working order for a long time to come. Durability is part of Maurice Lacroix watches make up and this is why their sales should boom.
What kinds of displays attract your eye most at a craft fair?
My jewelry is ready to go, now I need to decide on packaging and display for the bracelets and necklaces. Any ideas?
I’m not an experienced jeweler, but last spring my best friend and I made a few necklaces and bracelets to sell along with my art at a festival, and we packaged them in clear toothbrush cases and travel soap containers. I love keeping my jewelry in individual boxes, but so many of the boxes look similar and it’s frustrating to go through them all to find the specific piece I am looking for, and so when I saw clear, rectangular shaped toothbrush cases and soap containers made out of recycled plastic at a store they seemed like an ideal solution. They’re inexpensive and multi-purposeful; if the buyer decides to store the jewelry elsewhere, she can make use of the cases on her next trip. We lined the containers with a very pretty piece of velvet, and then added a tiny sprig of dried lavender. Our customers told us they thought the makeshift jewelry boxes were really creative and clever, and we did well that day, but we were just high school seniors selling quirky little pieces, so if your jewelry is more sophisticated you might want to find different packaging. Some jewelers use dainty little drawstring bags. Altoid tins could be another idea. You can peel the label off and paint and decorate the top, and it has an appealing, retro flair.
I’ve had booths at several art festivals and events for my paintings, and I always try to create a serene, peaceful little retreat where people can relax and want to linger and check everything out. I love my little zen water fountains that I bought relatively inexpensively because it gives the booth a more soothing vibe, and helps cocoon it from the noise and bustle of the festival. I also hook my ipod up to speakers to softly pipe in music that I think compliments my art. I cover the table with an emerald green table cloth, and then place the fountain on one corner, and put a clear vase with colorful marbles at the bottom and peacock feathers on top next to my laptop. I just found a really pretty glass tissue box holder at Tuesday Morning, and am going to use it in place of a vase next time because it’s more visually striking to me. I also have a hand-painted Altoid tin holding my cards, and a dish with candy or lollipops on the table. I’m not sure what your setup will be like, and if you’ll have a booth or a table, but you should try to find ways of decorating whatever space you’re working with in a way that is harmony with your jewelry and will catch the eye of passerby. Perhaps you could fill up vases with colorful beads or buttons, or have a small bouquet of flowers in colors that compliment your necklaces and bracelets. I’ve recently gotten into adding a few slices of limes or lemons to the bottom of a clear vase in flower bouquets. The citrus kills the flowers faster, but it creates a really eye-catching look that will stay pretty for at least a full day.
