Fashion has a big meaning in today’s world as the youth and society have become totally fashion driven. The constantly changing fashions and growing acceptability of prevailing trends have widened the horizons of designing as a career. This world of fashion and design definitely promises growth, glamour and success. There are a number of options available in fashion designing like textile designing, accessory designing and jewelry designing. As everyone now is touched by fashion and is getting more and more fashion conscious, the demand for skilled resources has increased. India is, in fact, carving its niche in the global market too which directly impacts the employment opportunities in this sector, surging them up. Since the jobs have become more skill specific and need more vocational knowledge, the demand for fashion institutes in India and for trainers has also grown higher.
Various government and private fashion schools have come into existence to cater to the growing need along with other foreign colleges coming into the picture. Even the existing university colleges have initiated various new courses and hired specialists who can impart particular skills to the students. With so many fashion institutes burgeoning in metros as well as in smaller cities, students now have a wide range of options to choose from.
Students throng in large numbers to take up such courses in jewelry designing and accessory designing as they are instrumental not only in grabbing a desirable job but also helps them pursue their interests as an added advantage. These courses are based on students’ convenience and thus they can choose from short term and long term courses or part time and full time courses. Certificate, diploma and degree courses from regular or open universities are also available.
Physical looks these days are given high importance and this is what keeps people updated on fashion. Also, fashion savvy people are ready to pay good money to get just the perfect look and so good incomes can be expected in the profession. Any graduate or even a 10+2 can get enrolled in such specialized courses. It only asks for some inherent interest and creative streak combined with a strong eye for detail, passion for fashion and technology-friendly attitude.
Career in jewelry designing and accessory designing have become one of the most profitable careers in India. One can either start a fashion house or store or work with known designers. Online and offline accessory stores have been opening up everyday which apparently underlines the fact that accessory designers are able to earn good income and lead a luxurious life. If an aspiring designer has low budget, he/ she can consider selling the designs and earn high profits. The designer may sell his/ her creations online and reduce the production costs. The scope of designing in India is growing but is well established in world cities like Los Angeles, New York, etc. If one plans to pursue the career in designing abroad, it is a lucrative option.
The job of an accessory designer is to create jewelry that can either redefine the trends or blend with the prevailing fashions. The ornaments designed should match well with the fashion apparel. It could be elegant jewelry pieces from metals like gold, silver or platinum or hip and junky jewelry from different kinds of metals, plastic and fabric or hand made jewelry for art lovers. The creativity of designer is restricted in no way, he/ she is open to display the talent at its best. One can design in a way that expresses his personal style statement and conceptualize vision into a reality.
There could be innumerable advantages of being an accessory designer, it being totally different from regular office jobs. It offers flexibility and freedom of being own boss while the work is fun, interesting and rewarding. The earning potential is almost unlimited and one can merrily be a style leader.
