Jewelry Clasps
I need help with buying things for jewelry making? What are these called?
I have a bit of spare time on my hands and thought i’d take up making jewelry. I just need to know, what things do you need?
Wire – is it just called wire if i ask for it?
What are the little metal pieces called to secure the loop on the end of wire when you put the clasp on?
And are the clasps just..clasps or is there another name?
what else would i need, besides beads/pendants.

There is specific wire meant for jewelry. Any craft store will sell it it the jewelry making section. Get the cheaper stuff when you’re just starting out. The metal pieces you secure the loop with are called crimps. There are all kinds of different clasps, I prefer using the toggle clasp. Go to your local craft store like michael’s, ac moore, or hobby lobby and they have all the supplies (even walmart has some jewelry making supplies). You will need to buy a plier set too with needle nose pliers, side cutters, etc..) they sell the sets that you need at a craft store. You’ll need beads/pendants, wire, and crimps. That’s all you need to get started. I like to make memory wire bracelets so get some memory wire too. Just watch out b/c jewelry making can be an expensive hobby.
