•Make certain that the jewelry store provided a receipt that shows all the representations.
•Having the serial number lasered onto the widest part of the stone can certify that it is your diamond, as suggested by Verderamo. Studying the use of a jeweler’s loupe is also recommended to know your stone.
•You may consider contacting an independent appraiser for confirmation of the lab report especially if you have a valuable stone and you need to be extra cautious. Appraisers can be found through the American Society of Appraisers or the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. If you made the diamond puchase on the internet, get it shipped directly to you preferred appraiser to ensure that the stone meets the specifications prior to closing the deal.Normally, appraisers fees range from $100 to $300.
