Will he forgive me and propose soon?
My boyfriend and I have been dating for three years. We go to college 2000 miles apart so we don’t see each other often but we talk everyday. Last Spring when he was home for break he took me to the mall and took me into a jewelry store to look at engagement rings. I was pretty positive he was going to propose over the summer when we went on vacation to Chicago. However, while he was at school I hooked up with a boy (cheated)… I just felt really lonely and thought it would make me feel better but I just felt worse. I told him right away because I felt so guilty. The stupid thing was telling him I guess cause he would have never known, but I never want to hide anything from him. We went on to Chicago and he didn’t propose in the Summer. Which was reasonable… He says he has forgiven me, but I’m wondering if he will propose ever now…
He may have forgiven you, but he probably doesn’t trust you. And he won’t forget. No offence, but you can’t blame him for not trusting you. You cheating might be a deal breaker. He might never propose. Or he could just be waiting until he trusts you again, which may take some time. Your best bet is to ask him if he will ever be able to trust you again, because a marriage can’t work without trust. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a deal breaker though….
